Lasallian Week of Peace schedule announced


Join in on this annual week of engaging and informative events. The theme of this year’s Lasallian Week of Peace is “Responsibility, Rehabilitation and Restoration: Crime and Criminal Justice.“ Events during the week are open to the Saint Mary’s community.

Sunday, Sept. 28
10:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. — Mass (Reflection on care of the prisoner and victims of crime), Saint Thomas More Chapel

Monday, Sept. 29
12:35 p.m. — Prayer for Peace, Peace Pole (in front of the chapel)

5:30 p.m. — Dine with the Devine, Hillside Hall. Enjoy dinner with Megan Gosse (Restorative Justice coordinator for Winona County Department of Corrections) who will discuss what restorative justice is and how it is being implemented in our area. Sign up in OCM.

Tuesday, Sept. 30
7:30 a.m. — Morning prayer and reflection, President’s Room, Toner Student Center

12:35 p.m. — Prayer for Peace, Peace Pole

Wednesday, Oct. 1
12:35 p.m. — Prayer for Peace, Peace Pole

7 p.m. — “A Witness to Innocence,” Toner Student Center Lounge, with Randy Steidl (an exonerated death row inmate) who will speak about his experience of being wrongly sentenced to death in Illinois and spending 12 years on death row.

Thursday, Oct. 2
12:35 p.m. — Prayer for Peace, Peace Pole

4:30 p.m. — Ecumenical prayer service, Saint Thomas More Chapel Leaders of various churches in Winona will come together to pray for healing for victims and perpetrators of crime.

Friday, Oct. 3
7:30 a.m. Fair Trade Friday, first floor of Saint Mary’s Hall, featuring a free cup of fair trade coffee and other items.
