O’Shea completes musical Mass setting

Dr. Patrick O'Shea, associate professor of music, recently completed a new musical setting of the Mass titled “Mass of the Mediatrix.”

With the revision of the text of the Roman Missal to be implemented in Advent, the need is great for musical settings that incorporate the numerous changes. O’Shea's setting may be performed by a simple cantor and piano or organ, or with a full choir and additional instruments, making it accessible in a wide range of parish and other liturgical contexts.

In service to the Church, the musical setting is being distributed free of charge for all non-profit uses. Musical scores, instrumental parts, pew cards, and audio files may be downloaded from the resource page that Dr. O’Shea has set up for the Mass of the Mediatrix: www.poshea.com/scores/mediatrix.php.
