St. Thomas Aquinas Lecture, March 13


On Thursday, March 13, IHM Seminary and the Department of Philosophy will host the 2014 St. Thomas Aquinas Lecture in Salvi Lecture Hall at 7:30 p.m. This year’s speaker is Dr. John Knasas of the Center for Thomistic Studies at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. The title of his presentation will be “Fides et Ratio, or My Life in Thomism.”  Everyone is invited.

In the Heart of the Beast production is tonight


The LaSallian Honors Program, the Department of Philosophy, and the Philosophy Club at Saint Mary's, in co-operation with the generous support of Lori and Michael Charron, dean of the School of the Arts, are proud to present In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre’s production of “A Path Home: A Story of Thich Nhat Hanh,” created and performed by Masanari Kawahara, directed by Sandy Spieler.

Hanh is an expatriate Vietnamese Zen Buddhist monk, teacher, author, poet and peace activist.

The performance will take place in the Damien Commons in Watters Hall today, March 19, at 7 p.m. All are welcome, and there is no fee for this event.

Tadie presents paper at philosophy conference

Dr. Joseph Tadie, assistant professor, Department of Philosophy, is presenting at a philosophy conference titled, “TEMPERANCE — A conference on the Cardinal Virtues,” sponsored by the D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics in Leadership at Viterbo University on April 2-4.

He will present his paper, “Hovering Between Humilities: Aquinas Face to Face with Aristotle and Augustine,” from 11:15 to 12:30 p.m. today, Friday, April 3, in Session III in RC 107 at Viterbo.
