The 28th annual Take Back the Night, hosted by the Women’s Resource Center, will involve local youth participation in the rally held in part of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, as well as National Child Abuse and Prevention Month. Students from Winona schools will be reading aloud published stories of recovery and healing from sexual abuse victims of similar ages.

The rally will also include speaker Leah Sweet, prevention specialist, from Stop It Now! Minnesota, part of a national and community-based program focused on the prevention of child abuse.

The rally will conclude with a march to the Winona State University campus where participants will have the opportunity to use chalk to write various abuse statistics in an effort to spread sexual assault awareness.

The Women’s Resource Center invites Saint Mary’s University and Winona community members to attend Take Back the Night in support of sexual assault awareness and prevention.
