SMU to review safety and security measures

In the wake of the Virginia Tech tragedy this week, Brother Chancellor Louis DeThomasis has asked for a review of the university's security plans and crisis communication capabilities. Ann Merchlewitz, vice president and general counsel, and Chris Kendall, vice president for student development, will lead this committee on the Winona campus. On the Twin Cities campus, Jim Bedtke, vice president for graduate and professional programs, will work with appropriate staff to review safety protocols and precautions for that campus.

Suggestions from the community are welcome. For more information about the committee and links to our Emergency Response Plan, campus safety offices, and counseling office, go to the main website homepage, www.smumn.edu, and click on "Saint Mary's Safety and Emergency Preparedness."
